Privacy Policy

Saw it (“the app”, “we”, “us”) helps you and your friends decide what to watch together. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have. It covers the Saw it mobile app and the website at sawit.app.

Information we collect

• Account details. When you sign up we store your email address and the username you choose. If you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address, and profile picture from Google to create your account.
• Your activity in the app. The titles you swipe on (yes, maybe, or no), the groups you create or join, your friends, your matches, and the titles you mark as watched. Swipes are visible only to you; within a group, other members can see that a title was liked by someone, and how many liked it, but not who — except when a title becomes a match, where the matched members are shown to each other.
• Streaming services and region. The streaming services you tell us you have, and the country you select, so we only suggest titles you can watch.
• Push notification token. If you allow notifications, we store a device token so we can tell you about new matches. You can revoke this any time in your device settings.

How we use your information

We use your information only to run the app: to sign you in, suggest titles on services you and your group have, create matches between group members, and send match notifications. We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for advertising.

How your information is stored

Your data is stored with our backend provider, Supabase, and protected by row-level security so that you can only access your own data and the data of groups you belong to. Title information (posters, descriptions) comes from The Movie Database (TMDB); we send your language and region to TMDB to return localized results, but we do not send TMDB your identity.

Sharing

We share information only with the service providers needed to operate the app — Supabase (accounts, database, notifications) and Google (only if you choose Google sign-in). We may disclose information if required by law.

Your choices and rights

• You can edit your streaming services, groups, and friends in the app at any time.
• You can turn off push notifications in your device settings.
• You can delete your account and all associated data — see Delete your account. We remove your profile, swipes, groups you own, matches, and watched list from our live systems within 30 days of your request, and purge any residual backup copies within 90 days.

Children

Saw it is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.

Changes to this policy

If we make material changes we will update this page and the “last updated” date above.
